Youth Services Specialist

Looking Ahead Program

Responsible for planning, promoting and conducting 100-120 social, community service and leadership development events and activities of varying size per year for the Looking Ahead program, serving professional young performers in three age groups: 9-11, 12-14, and 15-18. This position will require working a flexible schedule – minimum one evening per month and a minimum of three Saturdays per month.

• Ability to demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills with youth, team members, parents and community contacts
• Creativity, sense of fun, problem solving and planning skills, ability to adapt well
• Excellent organizational skills, strong sense of responsibility and trustworthiness
• Strong written and verbal skills required, presentation and facilitation skills helpful
• Proficiency on basic Microsoft Office Suite required, Mac helpful.
• Youth and entertainment industry experience preferred
• Bachelors degree preferred; three years of relevant event planning work experience
• Basic knowledge of social media including Face Book, Twitter, LinkedIn

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability to participate in athletic activities such as beach volleyball, laser tag, hiking, and sledding.
• Lifting and carrying of event supplies up to 25 lbs.
• Must have own reliable vehicle

Career Counselor

The Actors Fund Work Program

Serve as a part-time (16-19 hours-per week) career counselor in The Actors Fund Work Program for the Los Angeles office. Provides career assessment and counseling services, including assisting participants in developing career and education plans and providing group and individual counseling services; developing and implementing workshops and career events; and developing linkages for job development with private and non-profit sector employers in Los Angeles.

Master’s degree in Career Counseling, Counseling, Psychology, or closely related field required. Superior counseling and facilitation skills, and experience in career counseling and related work settings. Excellent computer skills, knowledge of the LA labor market, and experience in the entertainment industry, essential. Ability to assist in event planning; able to lift 20lbs.for event set-up.
